What to Wear and Bring to a Wakeboarding Session
23 March 2026 · Wavee
You have booked your session. Now what do you actually bring to the marina? Here is a straightforward checklist so you show up prepared and spend your time on the water, not worrying about what you forgot.
What to wear
In the water:
- Swimwear or board shorts — anything you are comfortable getting wet in
- A rash guard or athletic top — protects against sunburn and rope rash on your torso
- No jewellery — rings, watches, and necklaces can catch on the rope or get lost in the water
On the boat between turns:
- The same gear is fine — you will be wet anyway
- A light layer if you are going early morning (October to March) when the air is cooler before sunrise
What not to wear:
- Cotton t-shirts — they get heavy and drag when wet
- Loose clothing — can catch on equipment
- Denim — obviously
What to bring
Essentials:
- Sunscreen (SPF 50, water-resistant) — apply 15 minutes before getting in the water and reapply if your session is over an hour
- Towel — a large beach towel or a quick-dry microfiber towel
- Water bottle — you will be more dehydrated than you expect, even if you do not feel hot
- Change of clothes — for after the session
Nice to have:
- Sunglasses with a strap — for on the boat between rides
- Waterproof phone case — if you want to take photos or videos from the boat
- Hair tie — if you have long hair, tie it back before getting in the water
- Snacks — a banana or energy bar for after the session
Leave behind:
- Valuables you cannot afford to lose — boats have storage but it is not a vault
- Your ego — everyone falls, especially the first few times
What the provider supplies
Most boats on Wavee supply all the technical equipment:
- Wakeboard — sized to your weight and ability
- Life jacket — always required, always provided
- Rope and handle — correct length for the activity
- Wetsuit — some providers include these, especially in cooler months (check the listing)
- Helmets — available on request at most providers
- Refreshments — most boats provide drinks and snacks on board, but it's better to ask
Check the equipment list on the boat's listing page before your session. For special requests or questions about what's provided, reach out to the provider directly after booking on wavee-ai.com.
Arrival tips
- Arrive 10-15 minutes early — gives you time to find the dock, meet the crew, and get briefed
- Know your marina — check the listing for the exact departure point and pin it on your maps app the night before
- Parking — most Dubai marinas have paid parking nearby. Budget 20-30 AED
- Eat light — a heavy meal before bouncing on the water is not ideal. Eat something small 1-2 hours before
After the session
You will be tired, hungry, and sun-exposed. Have water, a towel, and fresh clothes ready in your car. Most marinas have cafes nearby if you want to grab food.
If you had a good time, book your next session while the stoke is fresh — morning slots fill up fast, especially on weekends.
